Do I Need a Website for My Business?

In doing applications for various things recently, I keep coming across a new field to fill out, and it is for my company’s “website.” Having a website for your business is just as important as having a physical address. Here are my top 5 reasons to have a website:

Do I Need a Website for My Business?

  1. You can be found online. People can look you up quickly and know what product or service you sell. If you can be found online, you can open up your customer base infinitely.
  2. You can send customers to your website to make payment for your product/service. Providing this convenience is a win/win for both of you.
  3. Customers can purchase your product or make bookings for your service online. That reduces the phone calls you get and automates a process that can eat up a lot of your time.
  4. When creditors are verifying your business to potentially provide credit, they check to see if you have a website.
  5. If you are trying to secure large contracts, like federal contracts for instance, your business automatically becomes a more eligible contender when it has a professional online presence.

Business Website Solution

I initially used GoDaddy to build and host my website. I used GoDaddy because I was first introduced to them many years ago when there weren’t many options on the market. I stuck with them for several years because, unless I have a reason to be dissatisfied, I don’t usually change. However, over time, I found that I needed more robust support and help with marketing than GoDaddy could offer. There are many other options available for those of you who want to build and maintain your own website. I recommend doing a Google search to see what other options are out there and which one will suit your needs the best.

The option which is best for most small businesses is to hire a website developer who will build and manage your website. I have recently partnered with WordJack Media to build my new website. They offer a lot of great options for producing beautiful websites, boosting SEO, and getting information about your business posted where potential customers will see it. They offer several different packages to meet customer needs at surprisingly low prices paired with great customer support. If your website needs to offer more complex functionality, like selling products through your website, etc., I recommend hiring a website developer if you don’t have that skillset. I recommend contacting WordJack to see what they can offer to boost your business, although you can also compare their offerings to other similar companies if you wish.

Finally, everyone has an app these days that serves as a companion to their website. That is an arena that I haven’t fully moved into yet, but I am pretty sure that it is just moments away from being a necessary requirement if you have a business.
